13th Annual Conference of the GAERID in Cologne

National and international colleagues met in Cologne for the 13th Annual Conference on Aesthetic and Reconstructive Intimate Surgery

This year, too, the exchange among national and international colleagues on the topic of intimate surgery was a complete success!

This year again, the Annual Conference on Aesthetic and Reconstructive Intimate Surgery provided a valuable platform for professional exchange among experts from Germany and abroad.

Under the scientific direction of the congress presidents Dr. Timo Spanholtz and Dr. Pirkko Schuppan, the thematic spectrum of the event was expanded this year. For the first time, content relating to buttock and breast surgery was additionally integrated into the programme – an expansion that was very positively received by the audience.

A particular feature of the conference was once again its strong practical relevance. Numerous workshops provided an in-depth insight into current treatment methods and surgical techniques. These included, among others, workshops on breast implants, regenerative biostimulators for the body, radiofrequency applications, as well as PRP treatments in the intimate area. The fully booked laser safety and laser expertise course for medical specialists also attracted great interest.

Participants also had the opportunity to broaden their own knowledge and further develop their surgical skills. Various live surgeries allowed a direct insight into modern surgical procedures. Topics such as gender and body contouring surgeries as well as female intimate surgery were openly discussed and addressed at the highest professional level – among others by renowned specialists such as Dr. Alexander Aslani and Dr. Alexander Hamers.

The focus of the scientific programme was on interdisciplinary knowledge exchange. In addition to current developments in reconstructive female and male intimate surgery, topics such as pelvic floor health, menopause, and the still comparatively little-discussed andropause were examined in depth.

This year, particular interest was also given to the diverse possibilities of buttock and body fillers as well as transgender surgery.

Over the course of three days, a multifaceted professional dialogue developed, made possible by the close collaboration of various disciplines. Plastic surgery, gynaecology, and dermatology worked together, as did specialist fields from midwifery as well as physiotherapy and sports science.

And since personal exchange must not be neglected either, the networking dinner with a Halloween party provided a successful setting for conversations across national borders – with participants from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Spain. Entirely in keeping with the motto: „Give them pumpkin to talk about.“
