How long does the healing take and when are the scars from a hairline lowering healed?

The first stitches are usually removed about 10 to 14 days after the hairline lowering. Swelling in the area of the forehead and eyes may occur in the first few days, but subsides quickly. The scar is initially still slightly reddened, but fades within a few months. Since your hair grows through the scar, you can usually wear your hairstyle completely normally again after a short time.

How does the shift differ from a hair transplant?

In hairline advancement surgery, the entire hair-bearing scalp is surgically moved forward. This delivers an immediate result with high hair density. A hair transplant, on the other hand, fills in bald areas (such as receding hairline corners) hair by hair, with it taking months for the hair to grow. We often use the advancement for the height of the forehead and the transplant for the fine contouring of the corners.

Where exactly does the scar run in hairline lowering surgery?

The incision is made very precisely directly at the edge of the hairline (trichophytic incision technique). The incision is made at a slight angle so that the hair follicles are preserved and the hair can later grow through the scar. As a result, the fine scar is almost completely covered by your own hair after healing and is virtually invisible.
